Niger Delta Communities, particularly riverine communities such as Azzuzuama and others have received a ray of hope for the future of children, youths and the elderly through education. This was made possible by HRH Dr Selky Kile Torughedi, the Eyewei (V) of Azzuzuama Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State, the Amananawei of FCT aka General Young Shall Grow, who relaunched free Education in Azzuzuama, Southern Ijaw LGA of the State.

This initiative is also to benefit other communities across the Niger Delta region. Through ‘The Young Shall Grow Dynamic Empowerment Foundation’, HRH Dr Selky has relaunched his Free Education Initiative, which served the community for years. This time, apart from nursery and primary education for children, the Southern Ijaw Monarch has launched the “KEYZ CONTINUOUS EDUCATION CENTER,” which now accommodates Youths and the elderly.

This approach, according to the monarch, is a more robust approach in fighting crime in the area. HRH Dr Selky disclosed this on Wednesday 22nd January 2025 while launching tge new initiative in Azzuzuama, Southern Ijaw Local Council Area of Bayelsa State.Recall that during the heat of the Niger Delta struggle, as he then was known, General Young Shall Grow provided free Nursery and Primary School education to his people as a way of giving back to the community but was put on hold after disarmament.

In his quest and love for education HRH Dr. Selky aka Gen. Young Shall Grow has revived his Free Education Scheme with a more robust approach to youth and elderly education. This is a welcome development for the Azuzuama People and her Neighboring Communities to take advantage of this philanthropic opportunity to have asses to free Education in their doorstep.

The mission and vision is to provide Professional development workshops, Academic upgrading, Language classes, Mentorship programs in addition to the ongoing Higher Institutions Scholarship program he offers. In order to achieve a lasting goal in reducing criminal activities and poverty, government and other stakeholders should as a matter of urgency work together to support General Young Shall Grow free education programs in Azuzuama Community cum Niger Delta.

This can be achieved by partnering with the Foundation, providing funding and resources, and infrastructural improvement. By working together, azzuzuama and sorrounding communities can have access to quality education for all individuals in the Niger Delta, regardless of their background or socio-economic status to reduce criminal activities in communities.
