The Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) recently wrapped up a two-day technical training workshop in Jos, Plateau State, aimed at enhancing the professional capacity of its members. The event underscores the institute’s dedication to promoting technological advancement and best practices in the building profession.

Held from April 24 to 25, 2025, at the Villa Grande Hotel, Jos, the workshop focused on “The Effective Application of Builders’ Practice Software and Preparation of Builders’ Documents.”

During the opening session, Plateau State Chapter Chairman, Bldr. Adedeji Adeleye FNIOB, welcomed participants and stressed the importance of mastering builders’ documents—a fundamental aspect of a professional Builder’s responsibilities.

“Developing and presenting Builders’ Documents is crucial to maintaining our relevance in the evolving construction industry,” he remarked.

The workshop featured hands-on training where each participant actively developed Builders’ Documents using their own laptops. Facilitators—Bldr. Ishagoro Zamfara MNIOB, Bldr. Dung Martins MNIOB, and Bldr. Adeleye Adedeji FNIOB—led engaging sessions packed with live demonstrations and one-on-one support.

Attendees gained practical skills in preparing Construction Programs of Work, Project Quality Management Plans, and Project Health and Safety Plans, using sample project drawings and tools such as Microsoft Project. Emphasis was also placed on effective construction methodologies and documentation.

The event drew close to 50 professionals each day and created a vibrant space for knowledge-sharing, peer networking, and discussions around emerging trends in the building sector.

In her closing remarks, the Chapter’s Vice Chairperson, Bldr. Grace Wang MNIOB, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, commending both facilitators and participants for their enthusiasm and commitment. She echoed the call for more frequent workshops of this kind.
