The 8th Conference and 2024 Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) Plateau State Chapter came to a close on Friday 15th November 2024 with far reaching resolutions and decisions such as the adoption of a new bye-law that will greatly impact the Institute in the new administrative year.
Bldr Adeleye Adedeji Paul FNIOB, the Chairman of NIOB Plateau State Chapter, said that biggest takeaways from the 2024 AGM were unity, professionalism and upholding compliance standards.
“The biggest takeaway is that when we are united, we can surmount every mountain ahead of us. By upholding professional standards and maintaining compliance with all expected regulations, there is nothing we cannot achieve in the built environment as we work together.”
“We want to thank God for enabling us to go through all the rigors of preparing for the State Conference and AGM, which we have just concluded. At the end of the AGM, we had six paper presentations, which we successfully concluded today.”
He stressed that from the 6 paper presentations, it was discovered that the role of builders in the application of the Plateau State Government’s Exective Order No. 003 can not be overemphasized.
“Most importantly, from the presentations, we have discovered that the role of builders in maintaining professional standards and regulatory compliance, in line with the state government’s executive order no. 003, cannot be overemphasized. The need for continuous professional development was emphasized, particularly in enhancing our learning and practice.”
“To summarize the topics treated: with all we have learned, it is expected that we will uphold the roles of builders, maintaining professional standards and regulatory compliance in the industry. At the end of our AGM, we resolved to pursue more robust collaboration with the state government.”
“We aim to fraternize and liaise better with the state government to ensure the roles of builders are not neglected and our partnerships with other stakeholders are strengthened. We are optimistic that this collaboration will lead to greater responsibilities for builders in maintaining professional standards and regulatory compliance.”
“During the AGM, we also reviewed our finances, marking the first time we have held a State AGM over two days. In previous years, our AGMs were single-day events. This year, we had a more comprehensive and structured AGM, which we will conclude this evening with a gala night and dinner, where we will celebrate one another.”
“Looking forward, we are trusting God for greater achievements next year. God has helped us accomplish what we could this year, and we wish everyone well as we plan for the future.”.
The 8th Conference and AGM of NOIB Plateau State Chapter is expected to climax with a Dinner hold by 8pm.
