The 13th meeting of the National Council on Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (NCCIDE) was held from December 8 to 12, 2025, at the Cairn Abbey Resource and Event Centre, Jos, Plateau State.
The meeting was chaired by the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, and hosted by the Plateau State Government through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
Council members from 10 states, Permanent Secretaries, officials of federal and state ministries, departments and agencies, security agencies, the private sector, academia, civil society organisations and other stakeholders were in attendance.
A total of 114 memoranda were received by the Council during the meeting. Out of these, 80 memoranda were approved, 11 were noted, while 23 were stepped down for further consideration.
One of the key activities was the State Innovation Peer Review Session, which allowed states to showcase achievements in digital transformation, promote peer learning, and encourage cooperation in ICT development.
At the end of the peer review, awards were presented to outstanding states. Anambra State emerged as the Best Overall Performing State in ICT Development and also won the award for Best State in ICT Human Capital Development.
The award for Best State in E-Government Implementation was won by another participating state, reflecting progress in digital governance across the federation.
The Council commended the Plateau State Government and its people for successfully hosting the meeting and providing a conducive environment for deliberations.
The meeting concluded with a commitment by the Council to strengthen collaboration, adopt innovative policies, and strategically deploy emerging technologies to advance Nigeria’s digital economy.
