Today marks the birthday of the Eyewei (V) of Azzuzuama, Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State and the Amananawei of FCT Abuja, His Royal Highness Dr Selky Kile Torughedi (a.k.a Generql Young Shall Grow).

From very humble beginnings in the creeks of the Niger Delta, HRH Dr Selky was moved by destiny and compassion for the plights of his people to agitate for their inclusion in the Niger Delta resource control. Given the very dire economic and deplorable physical condition the people of the oil rich region were in, whose land in which oil eploration was ongoing, produced a huge chunk of Nigerian’s National Income.

After years of involvement in the Niger Delta agitation, he, along with other prominent comrades in the struggle finally accepted the Federal Government’s Amnesty Program, embracing nonviolence and becoming an advocate of intellectual agitation.

He matched his words with action by providing scholarship for many young people to get an education and escape the circle of violence in the creeks. He became a beacon of empowerment for the elderly, women, and youths through the ‘Young Shall Grow Dynamic Empowerment Foundation’.

After decades of struggling for the betterment of the Niger Delta, he became a national figure for youth Emancipation and Empowerment, stretching his Empowerment and philanthrophy to reach Young people across Northern Nigeria. Nowonder, he was made King of Azzuzuama in 2021 and was later turbanned the Amananawei of the FCT, Abuja.

He used the opportunity of his position as King to network with monarch from across Northern and Southern Nigeria in order to explore opportunities and change the narrative about the peculiarities of Nigerians. He has successful bonded with Monarchs from the north and south, including Abaji, Keffi, Lafia and as far as Sokoto, Northern Nigeria to mention a few.

As though that were not enough HRH Dr Selky took his philosophy to Europe where he interfaced with government officials and the Nigerian community

As he celebrates another mile stone in his years of service to God and humanity, several persons from across Nigeria and indeed the world have poured in their felicitations for the global impact he has made and is still making.

This is calling on all people of good will and conscience to be encouraged to continue the good works in the interest of humanity just like HRH Dr Selky Kile Torughedi.
