Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, has stated that Nigerians have the right to request foreign military assistance to help tackle the rising insecurity in the nation. According to him, such a request is justified when the government fails to protect the lives of its citizens.

President Obasanjo also noted that Nigeria has the technological capacity to identify and neutralize criminal elements without necessarily deploying security personnel physically.

He made this disclosure during the opening ceremony of the 2025 three-day Plateau Unity Christmas Carol and Praise Service, holding from Friday, 28th to Sunday, 30th November 2025, at the 10 Commandments Prayer Altar, Dwei-Du, Jos South. The event is organized by the Plateau State Government.

The opening day of the event was graced by several high-profile individuals, including former Governors of Plateau State, Senator Dr. Jonah David Jang and Senator Joshua Dariye; former Deputy Governor of Plateau State and former Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen; former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung; Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daniel Na’anlong; and several other dignitaries.

Former Vice President Pastor Prof Yemi Osinbajo, General Overseer of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche; music minister Sinach; and others are expected to minister at the event, alongside choirs from within and outside Plateau State.
