In a historic fulfilment of a promise made at his inauguration two years ago, the Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) Plateau State Chapter, Bldr Adedeji Adeleye Paul FNIOB, has led the chapter to achieve a series of unprecedented milestones—firmly positioning Plateau as a pacesetter among NIOB chapters nationwide.

At the 9th Builders’ Conference and Annual General Meeting (Tincity 2025), held at Villa Grande Hotel, Jos, Adeleye unveiled the chapter’s first-ever official website [www.niboplateau.org.ng]— a platform designed to enable seamless membership registration, professional updates, and global access to chapter information. He described the launch as the realization of a long-held dream to modernize the institute’s operations and enhance member engagement.
The Adeleye-led administration also launched the first printed edition of the chapter’s official by-laws, a significant step toward improving governance, compliance, and institutional structure. In a further demonstration of visionary leadership, the chapter performed the ground-breaking ceremony for its proposed state secretariat — the first such project in the chapter’s history.
The event was graced for the first time by the National President of NIOB, Bldr Kolade Daniel Abimbola, FNIOB, who expressed profound delight over Plateau’s record-setting achievements. He noted that Plateau is the first NIOB chapter in Nigeria to simultaneously launch a functional website and by-laws, while commending the courage to commence the construction of a state office toward the end of an administration — a rare and admirable feat.
Chairman of the occasion and Director General of the Joint Project Development Agency, Gombe State, Bldr Mahmood Yusif, PhD, praised the outgoing EXCO for their transformational leadership, stating that their achievements compelled him to travel personally to Jos to witness the event.
Representing the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Sylvanus Dongtoe, lauded NIOB Plateau for its dedication to professionalism and urged the institute to collaborate with the government in its ongoing urban renewal efforts.
In his keynote address, the Chief of Staff to the Plateau State Government, Bldr Jeremiah Satmark, represented by the Special Adviser on Physical Facilities, Arch. Dachollom Dahworo, commended the Adeleye-led EXCO for their commitment, innovation and service to the built environment. The event was also attended by other high profile government functionaries include tge General Manager, Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) Arch Hart Bankat.
A major highlight of the event was the keenly contested election of new state officers. In a groundbreaking outcome, Bldr Grace Pam Wang, MNIOB, emerged as the Chairperson-elect — making her the irst female to lead an NIOB chapter in Northern Nigeria. Her emergence marks a historic shift toward gender inclusion and leadership diversity within the profession.
The 2025 conference, themed “The Builder’s Role in Advancing Sustainable Construction Through Innovation, Safety, and Professional Excellence,” concluded with celebrations of legacy, innovation, and the dawn of a new era for the NIOB Plateau State Chapter.
