In a heartwarming display of national appreciation for service and safety advocacy, HRH Dr. Selky Kile Torughedi—the revered Eyewei (V) of Azzuzuama in Southern Ijaw LGA, Bayelsa State, and Amananawei of the FCT Abuja—has been conferred with the prestigious Honorary Special Marshal title by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) of Nigeria.The colorful investiture ceremony took place on Sunday, March 15, 2026, in the nation’s capital, Abuja, drawing a vibrant gathering of prominent Ijaw sons and daughters from across Northern Nigeria and the FCT.

The event highlighted deep pride, unity, and admiration for a traditional ruler whose lifelong dedication to community development, humanitarian values, and protecting lives has earned widespread respect.Among the distinguished guests were Dr. Pere Arotu(former Commissioner of Police), Ambassador Success Motajo (former Chairperson of the Ijaw Community in Abuja), and other respected community leaders who came together to celebrate this well-deserved milestone.

Leading the decoration, Dr. Adaji Usman, National Coordinator of the FRSC Special Marshals, explained that this honorary recognition is reserved for exceptional individuals who stand out in volunteerism, road safety promotion, and safeguarding human lives.In a glowing tribute before the investiture, Dr. Usman shared: “We are here today on the directive of the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed mni, to decorate you, HRH Dr. Selky Kile Torughedi, in recognition of your outstanding record in community building and your unwavering commitment to the value of human lives in Nigeria. It is therefore a great honour for the Corps to confer upon you the prestigious title of Honorary Special Marshal.”
