Southern Ijaw Monarch HRH Dr Selky Kile Torughedi Congratulates the New Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State

The Eyewei (V) of Azzuzuama, Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State, and the Amananawei of FCT, His Royal Highness Dr Selky Kile Torughedi (a.k.a. General Young Shall Grow), has congratulated the newly appointed and confirmed Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Pastor Peter Akpe Ph.D.

In a statement issued by the Southern Ijaw Monarch on Tuesday, 24th February 2026, he congratulated Pastor Akpe and wished him the best in his new assignment. HRH Dr Selky noted the track record of Pastor Akpe, outlining that his rise from Ward Councillor, Assembly Members, Chief of Staff and now Deputy Governor is a testament to his capacity, capabilities and loyalty, which are necessary for promotion in life.

He congratulated His Excellency Governor Douye Diri and the people of Bayelsa State on the successful selection, which he said would move the machinery of government forward. He also used the opportunity to condole with the people of the state over the demise of the former Deputy Governor of the State, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

He described the Late Ewhrudjakpo as a man of candour, unwavering commitment, and exceptional dedication to public service, noting that these virtues earned him a reputation as a tireless and workaholic deputy governor.
