His Royal Highness Dr Selky Kile Torughedi, the Eyewei V and Amanawei of FCT has joined sympathizers and well wishers to mourn the demise of Elder statesman and Nationalists Pa Edwin Clark who passed on Monday 17th February, 2025.

HRH Dr Selky made this known in a statement on Tuesday 18th February 2025 in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.  According to the Southern Ijaw Monarch, Pa Clark was an exceptional leader who has left his indelible mark in the sands of time.  “Today, the Ijaw Nation and Nigeria mourns the loss of a truly exceptional Leader who has left an indelible mark on our country’s history.”

“His death leaves a void that can never be filled, but his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. If only we could have tap from his lifetime knowledge to serve humanity.”

HRH Dr Selky comforted the family of the deceased, the tire Ijaw nation and nigerians, adding that Pa Clark’s life’s work will continue to make an impact on our world, stressing that he will be missed dearly.

“May the Ijaw Nation, his family, friends, and loved ones find comfort in the knowledge that his life’s work will continue to make a positive impact on our world.” We will miss him dearly.”


Recall that elder statesman and advocate for the Niger Delta region, Edwin Clark died on Monday, February 17, 2025, at the age of 97 years, the Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State announced.

In a statement signed by Prof. C. C. Clark on behalf of the family and Penawei Clark for the children, the family expressed their gratitude for prayers and support during the time of mourning.

They said that further details regarding funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.

Clark was a towering figure in Nigerian politics and public service. He served as a Federal Commissioner for Information during Nigeria’s military era and was a vocal advocate for resource control and equity in the Niger Delta region.
